Baked Maple Bacon Doughnuts Recipe 

Baked Maple Bacon Glazed Doughnuts with maple, vanilla, spices, and whole wheat flour. Baked and drizzled with a butter-maple-vanilla glaze. Add crispy, savoury bacon to each doughnut. Don't be skeptical—salty-sweet is fantastic. If you doubt it, try it! 

Ingredient

– 1/4 cup melted coconut oil – 1 tablespoon vanilla extract – 2 large eggs at room temperature – 1/2 cup maple syrup – 1/2 cup milk – 2 cups whole wheat pastry flour (or all-purpose) – 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder – 1 teaspoon baking soda – 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon – 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom – 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt GLAZE – 4 tablespoons salted butter – 1/3 cup maple syrup – 1 cup powdered sugar – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 12 slices cooked bacon, broken in half

Heat the oven to 350°F. Melt butter and grease a 6-cup doughnut or 12-cup muffin pan.

Mix coconut oil, eggs, vanilla, maple syrup, and milk in a bowl. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt until just mixed.

Fill the prepared pan 1/2–2/3 full with batter. Bake until barely set, 12-13 minutes. After 5 minutes, run a knife over the sides to release and invert the pan.

Make the glaze. Put butter in a small pot over medium heat. Allow the butter to brown for 2-3 minutes until it smells toasted.

Remove from heat and mix in maple syrup, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Dip or drizzle doughnuts in glaze. After 2-3 minutes, top with bacon slices.
